Surprised at drug in tobacco pouch
A man’s been fined after admitting driving without car tax and possessing cannabis.
James Gibson Collinson, of Eyreton Lea in Crosby, appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse.
The 23-year-old was stopped by police in the early hours of 24 January as he drove his BMW through Heather Crescent in Pulrose.
A search of his car uncovered 0.2 grammes of cannabis, worth around £4.
The court heard Collinson had been caught with drugs before and referred to a help agency.
His advocate told the court Collinson was surprised to discover the cannabis in a tobacco pouch.
Magistrates fined him £100 for having no car tax and £100 for possessing the class B drug.
They also ordered him to pay £50 towards prosecution costs.
