The so-called 'gig economy' is being partly blamed for financial difficulties at the Isle of Man Post Office.

Although letter volumes have dropped by almost half in the last decade, demand for parcel deliveries has increased because of a boom in online shopping.

But the Post Office says it's losing out on business to private courier companies.

Unions have criticised some of them for employing staff on short-term contracts.
