IOM Constabulary "deeply impressed"
A teenage girl who dialled 999 whilst her mother was subjected to domestic abuse, has been formally recognised for her courage by the Isle of Man Constabulary.
On Christmas Day last year, 15 year old Ellie Whipp called the police as she protected her younger siblings from a man who strangled her mother.
At the police's annual awards ceremony this week, Ellie was honoured with a commendation from the Chief Constable.
On stage at the Gaiety Theatre, Gary Roberts praised Ellie's "brilliant presence of mind":
