
A Douglas councillor says he’s horrified by plans to start charging more for car parking in the capital.
Last week, the Department of Infrastructure said it would introduce pay and display parking on Douglas promenade walkway, as well as cut the time people can park in disc zones and impose fees for residents' permits.
Councillor Bill Malarkey says the moves will be another blow for retailers as shoppers are discouraged from visiting the town centre.
And he says he’s totally opposed to the moves:
