Council wardens to patrol Douglas Golf Course

Fines for those found breaking dog control laws

Douglas Borough Council is stepping up efforts to clamp down on those walking their dogs on the capital's golf course.

Under local bylaws the pets must be kept under control, and taken along certain footpaths within the course, whilst any mess must be removed. 

Wardens from the local authority will now patrol the grounds at Pulrose on an 'ad hoc basis', in an attempt to tackle the issue.

They've also been tasked with checking whether golfers have their club cards, or day tickets for the course, and to ask those who don't to leave.

On the patrols, the wardens will also check in with users to see if they've encountered any issues with dogs or dog fouling.

The council's community and enforcement team wants everyone to adhere to the restrictions, to 'enhance the golf club experience'.

Owners found breaking dog control laws are liable to a fixed penalty of £50, or a fine of up to £1,000.
