There's been an angry reaction from the leader of Douglas council to changes in the allowances paid to local authority members for attending daytime meetings.
Tynwald has approved a proposal which means members will be able to claim £12.50 per hour up to a maximum of £50 per session.
That replaces the current flat rate of £30 per session.
The new measures were promoted in Tynwald by Infrastructure minister David Cretney as an increase in attendance allowance rates. Mr Cretney says the total that local authority members can claim has increased from £3600 to £6000, as a result of last night's vote.
However, the agreed changes include a new, lower rate for evening meetings, where local commissioners will be eligible to claim an hourly payment of £7.50, to a maximum of £30 per session.
Six MHKs opposed the new rates, which will come into effect next April.
