
Douglas Council Leader David Christian says he’s fuming over claims made by two government ministers about a proposed development in Cambrian Place.
Treasury Minister Eddie Teare and Infrastructure Minister David Cretney said plans for the £12 million car park, offices and library showed a lack of transparency and consultation and were far too expensive.
But Councillor Christian says the council had spent more than a year talking to government about the scheme before the corporation was told it couldn’t borrow the money it needed.
And he says the accusations from the two ministers have left a sour taste:
