DEFA chief wary of existing agreements
The Island must work with other fishing jurisdictions to protect the scallop industry - so says Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Geoffery Boot.
The comments follow reports only 21% of the scallops caught on the opening day of the season were landed and processed on the Isle of Man, with the remainder going elsewhere.
Mr Boot says Manx boats also fish off-Island and any action taken must not jeopardise existing agreements with other fisheries.
He's keen to address concerns over the industry in the near future.
