Costcutter officially opened in Castletown today
A convenience store on the Island is hoping to expand how much local produce it offers on its shelves.
Costcutter opened at Station Garage in Castletown in June, after taking it over from the Owen family.
Today (Thursday 22 October) it's been officially by children from the nearby Victoria Road Primary School.
Figures from the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture show that only around 6% of food consumed here is made here.
Matt Lewis is the Operations Manager for Retail Services Ltd, and says their door's always open to local producers:
Peter Whittaker is project manager for Retail Services Ltd.
He says the store has been a success so far, and puts that success down to its commitment to the community:
Government resources 'are not unlimited'
'Bleak future' for Manx businesses if people don't shop local
Declining amount of food production 'quite frightening'
Charity continuing to provide support to family of murdered teenager
