Residents describe solid blocks as an 'eyesore'
Controversial traffic calming measures on Strang Road in Braddan have been defended by the Department of Infrastructure.
Highways planning manager Kevin Almond, insists the large solid blocks placed on the road are the best option to ensure motorists comply with the 20 mph speed limit.
Residents have expressed outrage online at the unusual calming measures, with some describing them as 'an eyesore' and 'an accident waiting to happen'.
Options to slow down motorists were discussed with the DOI at a public meeting several months ago.
Mr Almond says the new features are permanent and their appearance is a matter of opinion.
