
Qualye wants 'ghost fishing' to stop
The Chief Minister is in talks with Scotland's First Minister over disputed changes to scallop regulations.
Howard Quayle spoke to Nicola Sturgeon yesterday (Thu) after fishermen there raised concerns a new requirement to report to Manx port authorities daily was 'discriminatory'.
The Manx government says repeated reports of so-called 'ghost fishing' - where vessels falsify logs to avoid catch limits - prompted the rule change.
Mr Quayle says he wants to find a 'mutually acceptable solution', and has promised an announcement will be made in the coming days:
