Commissioners team up with Beach Buddies
Beach Buddies are moving inland this weekend to help a local authority tidy up its patch.
A community clean up is taking place in Rushen parish this Saturday (2 August) where volunteers from the litter picking charity, who usually frequent the Island's coastline, will lead the charge.
Rushen Parish Commissioners, in conjunction with Beach Buddies, are inviting the public to meet them at Ballafesson Church Hall from 2pm, before heading out to pick litter in the area, and nearby Ballakillowey and Surby.
Equipment will be provided to willing volunteers.
Rushen, along with Arbory, is one of the first local authorities to take on responsibility for maintenance of rural footpaths from the Department for Infrastructure.
Commissioners' Chairman David Radcliffe is hoping for a big turnout.
