Commonwealth swimming team to blend debuts with experience

It'll be the biggest of the Manx squads to compete in Glasgow

A mix of both debutants and experience will form the Isle of Man swimming team heading to the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Fourteen competitors have been named in the squad and will compete between Friday (24 July) and next Wednesday (29 July).

Nine of those selected will be heading to the games for the first time.

Swimming Team Manager Lee Holland, experienced games athlete Joel Watterson and debutants Oscar Maddrell and Libby Curphey have been speaking to Manx Radio ahead of the event:

Along with Maddrell and Curphey the other swimming debutants include Zack Bellhouse, Lauren Dennett, Charlie Foster, Ella Justice, Magnus Kelly, Connor Mealin and Alex Turnbull.

The other five swimmers completing the lineup - Peter Allen, Laura Kinley, Kiera Prentice, Harry Robinson and Joel Watterson - have all taken part in at least one Commonwealth Games to date.

Ella Justice, Magnus Kelly and Connor Mealin all represented the Isle of Man at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad & Tobago in 2023.

The 2026 Commonwealth Games will run from tomorrow (23 July) to Sunday, 2 August.
