Paul Weatherall believes it provides 'value' to residents in the north
A Ballaugh commissioner says no northern commissioners should sign an agreement over the Northern Civic Amenity Site until the re-use shed is opened.
Paul Weatherall believes the site needs to be reinstated because it provided 'value' to residents and allowed people to dispose of items in a 'responsible' way.
A spokesperson for the Department of Infrastructure said the sites are operated and funded by local authorities and it's up to Ramsey Commissioners to open the re-use shed - which is closed for 'operational reasons'.
They also said: "The Department was pleased that it was able to help the Northern local authorities keep their site open for the people of the North and it continues a dialogue with them regarding the future of the site after March 2026.
"Reuse is an important part of the Island’s management of waste, and it should be encouraged wherever practical."
Mr Weatherall claims if the issue goes unresolved it could be a campaign target for House of Key's candidates next year.
