Comments made by a Ramsey Commissioner on social media regarding the death of Charlie Kirk are now subject to an investigation.
Elizabeth Shimmin wrote on Facebook "what is wrong with people" and that Mr Kirk should "burn in hell", in response to a tribute posted on the site.
Vice-Chair of the commissioners Sandra Cottam-Shea said the investigation now takes "precedence" and there won't be any 'further' public discussion.
She added that the local authority has 'no mechanism' to remove Ms Shimmin from her post and is a matter for her to 'reconcile' with her actions.
Police have confirmed a complaint was made about the Facebook post, but having referred it to the Attorney General's Chamber, there will be no further action taken by the Constabulary.
