Coastguards rescue boat after bow rope snaps

Crews urging boat owners to check condition of vessels

Coastguards in Peel managed to rescue a boat which had broken free from its harbour restraints in rough weather yesterday (30 October).

Teams were called out at around 4.45am on Saturday after a vessel's bow rope had snapped in Peel Harbour due to fast flood water.

The boat then swung out and sank a dinghy next to it.

Crews were able to refloat the dinghy and bail it out before both crafts were then secured.

Coastguards are now reminding boat owners to check their vessels, especially the condition of mooring lines, in extreme conditions.
