'Religious buildings often rely on few people doing lots of roles'
Churches will need volunteers and support from other groups to be able to provide warm spaces this winter.
Archdeacon Irene Cowell says a number are actively looking to recruit helpers so they can support those in need of heat over the colder months.
Many churches already provide support to those in need - such as foodbanks and community meals.
But the archdeacon says this help often relies on a few people doing a lot of work:
