Thousands turn out for festive light switch-on
Christmas has officially taken the limelight in Douglas - and around 6,000 people watched it happen, according to Douglas Mayor John Skinner.
Thanks to Douglas Borough Council, festive lights are twinkling and late night Thursday shopping has kick-started in the run up to the big day.
Jo Pack of Manx Radio compèred the entertainment outside the town hall until Mayor John Skinner lit Douglas streets at 7pm.
Douglas Town Band, performers from Gaiety pantomime ‘The Wizard of Oz’, local singers and familiar winter wonderland characters wowed the crowd.
