David Christian has refused to confirm whether or not he'll contest a seat in September's House of Keys election.
The leader of Douglas Council is stepping away from local authority politics after more than 30 years.
He counts improvements in housing, reducing the size of the council and regeneration of Douglas as some of his biggest achievements.
