Chilli and BBQ festival postponed by 24 hours

Outdoor event will now go ahead on Sunday due to tomorrow's forecast

This weekend's Fire Island Chilli and BBQ Festival will now take place on Sunday instead of tomorrow.

Organisers have taken the decision to postpone the event by 24 hours due to Saturday's forecast rain and strong winds.

Fire Island says the dry and sunny conditions expected on Sunday give the best opportunity to deliver an outdoor festival as planned.

Stuart from Fire Island said: "We haven’t taken this decision lightly. We know people have made plans and as farmers we know the Manx weather can change quickly and moving an event 24 hours back it is never ideal but far preferable to cancelling. Ultimately, we want people to come along, eat, drink, listen to some great music, have a laugh and enjoy a brilliant day in decent weather.

"Tents are for circuses, we are a proper outdoor festival and we’d much rather make the call now and give as much notice as we could, knowing that we can make it the best possible experience for everyone."

The event will now take place between 12pm and 7pm on Sunday (13 September) at Onchan Park and remains free to enter.
