New initiative from Arbory and Rushen Commissioners
Efforts are underway to stamp down on anti-social activity in the south of the Island which is resulting in ‘stinky streets’.
Arbory and Rushen Commissioners have put up posters, designed by children of the parish, to encourage residents to pick up dog poo.
They’re yet to hand out any fines because they say it’s ‘tricky’ to catch animals in the act and the authority doesn’t have a dog warden.
Commissioner Jane Glover says the most recent ‘outbreak’ has been from December 2022 through to this month.
She told Local Democracy Reporter Emma Draper it’s the ‘minority’ of dog owners who are leaving mess in public places:
