The new facilities will expand support for local children and families

A children's charity is set to make significant improvements to its facilities after securing funding from the Manx Lottery Trust.

Isle of Play's Lester's Yard will benefit from a £25,000 grant to build a new facility to expand its resources and better meet the needs of local children and families.

The new building will replace an ageing cabin and include a large social room, community kitchen, therapeutic suite, gender-specific and accessible toilets, and additional storage.

It will also allow play and therapy sessions to run at the same time without disruption.

The grant forms part of this year’s 'Space to Thrive' funding programme, which aims to support wellbeing and community development across the Island.

Chris Gregory from Isle of Play says: "This new building will enable us to expand our services and continue providing a safe and creative environment for local children.

"We are excited about the impact it will have on both the children who use our services and the broader community."

Chairman of Manx Lottery Trust, Stephen Turner adds: "Isle of Play’s Lester’s Yard provides a unique and valuable resource for children in Douglas, offering them not only a place to play but a supportive community space."
