Children’s and Family Emmy nomination for Manx actor

Manx actor Joe Locke has been nominated for another major award across the pond.

The 22-year-old has secured a Children’s and Family Emmy Award nomination in the 'Outstanding Lead Performer in a Preschool, Children's or Young Teen Program' category.

The nod comes in recognition of his work as Charlie Spring in Netflix's Heartstopper series.

His co-star, Kit Connor, has also been nominated in the same category.

The show itself has three further nominations: one for 'Outstanding Young Teen Series', and others for 'Outstanding Writing for a Young Teen Series' and 'Outstanding Directing for a Live Action Series' for the season three episode 'Journey'.

Airing as the fourth episode in the season, 'Journey' depicted Locke's character's experience at an inpatient mental health clinic, tackling topics such as eating disorders and self-harm.

The fourth annual edition of the ceremony will be held on 1 and 2 March 2026 in New York at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall.
