Chief minister: Working families 'will be better off'

The chief minister appears certain that working families who are struggling 'will be better off' under the new government budget, but admits 'some' will be worse off.

Treasury set out its spending commitments for the fiscal year ahead earlier this week which saw the higher rate of income tax raised.

From April, those earning above £21,000 per year will be taxed an additional two percent at 22 percent, on a temporary basis until an 'NHS Levy' is developed.

Minister Alex Allinson says data suggests most working households fall into the lower tax bracket.
