Number of people missing after blast destroys block of flats
Chief Minister Alfred Cannan has written a message to the Government of Jersey offering support in the coming days following an explosion in the Channel Island's capital.
The blast tore through a block of flats in St Helier in the early hours of the morning.
A statement from the Government of Jersey, released early this afternoon, confirmed one person has been killed and around a dozen others are missing.
In a press conference this morning Jersey's Police chief, Robin Smith, described it as 'a scene of devastation'.
Thoughts with all our friends in Jersey as they deal with this major incident particularly those directly impacted and the emergency services. Let us know if you need any support in the coming days.@GovJersey @Moore4Jersey 🇯🇪 🇮🇲 https://t.co/X16Pans8H5
