The owner of the Cherry Orchard in Port Erin says he was devastated at having to make staff – many of them long-time friends - redundant.
Restaurant, bar and function facilities at the complex have closed, although prepaid deposits are being honoured, while apartments, self-catering and swimming pool operations are continuing.
Management say the business is no longer viable after a Rent and Rates Appeal Tribunal ruling found leaseholders on the site had been overcharged by £89,000.
