Changes to UK WEEE enforcement behind amenity site increases

Company with tender for disposal explains price rises

Bulk shipping, fuel surcharges and the minimum wage are some of the reasons behind new or increased charges for disposing of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment.

The manager of the recycling company that has the tender to remove the items on the Isle of Man says he believes the public need more information as to why costs have gone up.

Since the start of the year people leaving appliances at amenity sites have been charged for the first time or seen existing charges for items increased.

It’s led to criticism from some that the changes could lead to increased fly-tipping.
