Changes to EPAU praised but are now overdue says MHK

Pregnancy service alterations were expected to happen in January

Proposed changes to the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit are being praised despite appearing to be delayed.

Currently women experiencing a miscarriage, or other early pregnancy complications, are often placed with other pregnant women while they wait for treatment.

Plans to move them to a separate ward, with a discreet entrance and a quiet room, were expected to happen in January.

Douglas South MHK Sarah Maltby has been looking into the issue:

While the move has been positively received, a response to Mrs Maltby's written question to Tynwald - in November last year - said the relocation was expected to happen in January.

However, that relocation doesn't seem to have happened yet.

Helen is from the charity A Little Piece of Hope which supports bereaved families and sick children.

She told Manx Radio about the impact the current set up has on those experiencing difficulties:
