Liberal Vannin holding meeting on subject tonight
There will be an opportunity to discuss local government and rates reform tonight (Monday, 25 March).
Liberal Vannin is hosting a meeting on the subject, with its chair, Paul Weatherall, leading the debate on potential changes to the Island’s local authorities and their financing.
The group hopes the discussion will be of interest to existing commissioners, as well as anyone considering standing for the Island’s local authority elections in May next year.
Liberal Vannin believes reform is necessary and long overdue, suggesting it should be an issue for MHK candidates in the 2026 general election to express their views on in their manifestos.
The meeting will start at 7:30pm at the Manx Legion Club in Douglas.
Liberal Vannin invites individuals with views on topics such as the “Ramsey Land Grab,” the Braddan Roundhouse, all-Island rates, or various proposals for reducing the number of local authorities to attend and voice their opinions.
