The Positive Action Group will find out more about sustainable island tourism when it meets on Monday (9 Dec).
The group is hosting a
talk by PhD student Brendan Canavan at the Manx Legion Club on Market Hill in Douglas.Mr Canavan who studies at Nottingham University, will outline his research into the impact tourism has on contrasting island communities - Harris and Lewis in the Hebrides, Belle Ile in Brittany and the Isle of Man.
Mr Canavan says tourism can help generate employment and boost economies but has the potential to damage the environment and threaten unique island cultures.
He'll present some of his research findings at the meeting which starts at 7.30pm, is free and open to all.
