The Island’s surveillance commissioner is calling for a code of practice to be introduced governing CCTV.
Brendan O’Friel’s report to the Department of Home Affairs highlights the fact the Isle of Man doesn’t yet have such a code, something he says is supported by Data Protection Supervisor Iain McDonald.
Mr O’Friel says bringing in a code would avoid the need to bring in legislation to oversee cameras.
He says the issue was first brought up by members of the public, leading to discussions on the matter:
Warning over flare disposal after amenity site fire
Suspended sentence for 56-year-old in cannabis supply case
Owner of a block of flats fined for failing to meet fire safety regulations
