DoI Minister Michelle Haywood says the board will 'use it or lose it'
The Infrastructure Minister says Castletown Commissioners will have to show it's supporting businesses and the community with the Market Square scheme.
Michelle Haywood was answering a question in the House of Keys this week about what discussions were held before a decision was made to pedestrianise it.
The closure of the square to vehicles in the winter months has been a controversial decision by the local authority and resulted in a public meeting in November last year.
Dr Haywood says the outcome of the initiative lies with the local authority and it's on them to 'prove or disprove' whether it works:
