Work to start early next year
Regeneration work to one of the Island's main shopping areas will commence early next year.
The Department of Infrastructure (DoI) is carrying out a £1.4million refurbishment of Castle Street as part of the Lower Douglas Regeneration Scheme.
The project is due to begin on 8 January, however, Islanders are being assured access will be maintained to all premises on Castle Street whilst the work is ongoing.
A letter has been sent out to nearby businesses setting out plans for the project to be completed by mid-October.
It follows on from a similar development of Regent Street and will involve a full reconstruction of the street - including the upgrade of public utilities and the installation of new lighting and street furniture.
Attention will be turned to Duke Street upon completion of the Castle Street project.
