Vehicle registration system to be installed
Shaw’s Brow and the Bottleneck car parks in Douglas are being updated with a new ticketless automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) system.
The system takes a picture of the vehicle's registration number as it approaches the entry barrier.
On leaving, drivers key in their registration number and pay the required fee using cash, debit or credit card or the Glide parking app and as the vehicle leaves, its number will be recognised and the barrier automatically lifted.
The Council says the system will provide quicker and more reliable parking for motorists and tariffs will remain unchanged.
The upgrading work will begin on Monday October 2nd and the council has apologised in advance for any inconvenience caused.
