
The social care minister has admitted that two Manx homes for the elderly don't physically meet the standards that would allow them to be run 'externally'.
Both Rearyt Ny Baie in Douglas and Cummal Moor in Ramsey would have to be replaced to meet new standards if an outside provider was brought in - or the service 'externalised'.
Chris Robertshaw has confirmed most adult care services will, over the next five years, be taken-on by a not-for-profits social enterprise.
Today's admission by Mr Robertshaw that accommodation at the two state-run care homes doesn't come up to scratch, drew a comment from Onchan member, Peter Karran:
