The chief minister says he's sorry for where his leadership has fallen short during his time in the role after surviving a motion of no confidence.
While members supported Alfred Cannan 18 votes to six, many used the debate to highlight issues of concern and areas that could be improved going forward.
The non-statutory vote wouldn't have required the chief minister to stand down had he lost.
