Campaigner's greylist 'cautious welcome'

Response to EU latest

The omission of the Isle of Man from a European tax haven blacklist has prompted a 'cautious welcome' from a local transparency campaigner.

A table of 'non-cooperative' jurisdictions compiled by EU finance chiefs does not include the Island - but we are placed on a so-called 'grey list'.

It comes a month after the Paradise Papers appeared to show large-scale tax dodging by multinational firms and wealthy individuals on Manx shores.

Phil Craine from TaxWatch featured on a BBC Panorama special at the time, centring on the allegations.

He told Manx Radio the EU's conclusions are similar in nature:
