Manx police force to wear white ribbons to support global campaign
The Manx police force is to become the first organisation in the Island to endorse a UK campaign against domestic violence.
Next Wednesday (25 Nov) all male officers in the Constabulary will be invited to wear a white ribbon, as a sign they believe violence against women is never acceptable.
The White Ribbon Campaign is a global movement which works to end men's violence against women - and is largely led by men.
It asks supporters to pledge never to commit, condone or remain silent about domestic violence.
Leanne Cullivan is domestic abuse coordinator for Isle of Man police, as part of a wider public protection unit.
She says victims are becoming more willing to report abuse.
