Manx Gas CEO calls increases 'unavoidable'
All gas customers on the Isle of Man should receive government support in light of rising energy bills.
That’s the view of Islands Energy Group – the parent company of Manx Gas.
Gas bills will jump by 43.9 per cent from 1 September with people told they’ll have to find, on average, around £677 extra.
Chief executive Jo Cox says it’s ‘unavoidable’ and has called on government to offer more help:
Treasury says it will take proposals for support to Tynwald in October, Minister Alex Allinson has since responded to Manx Radio on Twitter:
As earlier this year, financial support can be provided through existing payment channels quickly to ensure it gets to those most in need.
