Union says it's not practical to always have one available
A Douglas woman is calling for more wheelchair-friendly taxis to be available on the Island.
Blanche Callister from Pulrose is 85 and struggles with her mobility:
Mike Birchall is the secretary of the Unite Union Taxi Branch.
He says there are 22 licences on-Island for wheelchair taxis, but it's not practical to always have one available:
Blanche has praised the Island's bus services though, saying they've really helped her get around:
Andy Cowie is the chief engineer at the Transport Services and has been explaining how the buses adapt for wheelchair users:
The main advice is, if you need a wheelchair-friendly taxi, to book it in advance to avoid disappointment.
