Current system 'unacceptable' says Onchan MHK
The Island needs a specialist centre for those who have been the victims of sexual assault.
That's the belief of Onchan MHK Rob Callister.
Mr Callister was speaking following comments from Chief Constable Gary Roberts, whose annual report has just been published.
Mr Roberts says the current handling of alleged cases of sexual assault isn't what the constabulary would like it to be and welcomed the proposal of what he called a "major development", to create a Sexual Assault Referral Centre on-Island.
Speaking on Mandate this morning, Mr Callister said the current system of victims being flown off island was unacceptable.
