TaxWatch boss says laws are socially 'harmful'
A local activist who featured on the BBC programme which broke allegations of tax avoidance stemming from the Paradise Papers believes they should be viewed from a moral, rather than legal, standpoint.
Phil Craine told Panorama on Monday night that while many of the Island's structures are technically above board, they are socially 'harmful' in a wider sense.
He heads up the campaign group TaxWatch, which pushes for reform in offshore finance centres.
Speaking on Mandate this morning, he said the Island's unique position could be used for greater good:
Rapist who 'terrorised' his victim told his sentence was 'entirely justified'
Discovery of oiled birds 'makes a mockery of our biosphere status'
Charges now in place for those sending parcels to the EU
Creamery managing director to leave role
