The Fire and Rescue Service says they've had a busy 24 hours dealing with a variety of incidents.

Around 3.30pm yesterday (Thurs), Douglas and Laxey crews assisted the Police and Ambulances Services with a road traffic collision at Bulgham Rocks, whilst Castletown Station was dealing with a fire on the steam railway lines embankment. This was followed by two other domestic emergencies.

The Bulgham rocks incident involved a car and motorcycle  . . and firefighters helped Manx Electric Railway staff to clear tracks which had been showered with stone from a wall following the impact.

Three people required hospital treatment and one was taken to Nobles by helicopter.

Early this morning (Fri) Douglas crews were called to flooding in a domestic property caused by a pipe coming loose and shortly afterwards a householder was alerted by a smell of smoke coming from a property in York Road.

Fire crews removed a smouldering sofa from the property . . the householder had been rescued by the neighbour who had dialled 999.

It's thought the fire had been caused by a cigarette.
