Irvings disqualified for Street Heritage role

Two Island businessmen disqualified from acting as company directors have branded the decision ‘unfair and unjust’.

Jonathan Irving and his son Jamie were this week banned for eight and seven years respectively for their role in running Peel based Street Heritage.

The company was wound up by government in 2010 over unpaid tax bills.

Jonathan Irving says he'll appeal the decision, reached after the Island’s Financial Services Authority brought proceedings stating they had shown themselves unfit to serve as directors.

In a statement, he explains he successfully ran his own local businesses for more than 30 years, employing many people and paying taxes, before falling into difficulty due to what he described as ‘totally dire economic conditions’.

Mr Irving says he and his son are victims of a wrong-doing and will appeal the judgment.
