One of the five Island businessmen named in an official report which found Snooker player Stephen Lee guilty of match-fixing charges has denied any connection with the betting syndicate.
Mike Vipond was mentioned in the report from Sport Resolutions which centres on match fixing by Lee during seven games in 2008 and 2009.
In a statement today (Thurs), Mr Vipond says whilst he often has a bet on snooker he was NOT involved in the in-match frame betting which created the enquiry.
He DID have a bet on one of the Lee matches mentioned in the report, but his bet was on the correct result and he won £320 with Betfair.
Stephen Lee has denied the allegations that he deliberately lost matches, though the sport's governing body is now likely to push for a life ban on the player
