
The director of highways is reassuring businesses on Peel Road which will be affected, if a major scheme is approved by Tynwald next week.
The plan is to rebuild the stretch of road from the Brown Bobby to the Quarterbridge from the foundations up, with 80 weeks and £4.3 million of capital spending set aside for it.
Additional works will be carried out on drainage, pedestrian crossings, pavements and part of Pulrose Road.
Peel Road will be one-way into Douglas during the works.
Director of Highways Richard Pearson says all affected parties, particularly businesses, have been consulted, and will be able to remain open for the duration of the works:
