Broadcasting regulator opens survey into listening habits

CURA says local radio plays an important role within communities demonstrated by recent events

The Isle of Man’s broadcasting regulator has opened a survey to residents with the aim of understanding how we listen to the radio.

The Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority – otherwise known as CURA – is the body responsible for regulating broadcasters on the Island.

They say local radio plays an important role in communities, and points to recent events such as the Covid-19 pandemic as an example.

The ways in which people listen to radio has increased, with many listening via mobile devices, smart speakers alongside conventional FM.

The survey hopes to understand listening habits and thoughts on broadcasting from a listener’s perspective, and for businesses to provide insight behind advertising on local radio.
