CM defends the Island against scrutiny

The Paradise Papers, Brexit, the global economy - all high-level discussions on the table at this month's British-Irish Council Summit, attended by the Chief Minister.

Mr Howard Quayle and Economic Development Minister, Laurence Skelly, attended the meeting in Jersey last Friday (10th).

Ministers and other politicians from the UK, Irish, Northern Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Manx, Jersey and Guernsey governments gathered.

They included the Irish Taoiseach, Northern Irish Secretary of State, James Brokenshire, and Scotland's first Minister, Nicola Sturgeon.

Headline subjects weren't restricted to political heavy subjects - they also talked about how to promote and grow creative industries.

However, Mr Quayle says it provided him with an opportunity to defend the Isle of Man as a well-regulated and responsible jurisdiction amid media scrutiny.
