We hear from Parkinson's Disease Society Isle of Man

Today (11 April) is World Parkinson's Day, and this year the theme focuses on 'bridging the care gap', with emphasis on improved access to specialist care, medication, and support services for those affected.

Here on the Island, Parkinson's Disease Society Isle of Man work to highlight these issues year-round for over 25 years.

Chair Pamela Shimwell-Mayo established the charity largely in memory of her husband Derek.

She has been speaking to Christy on our One-to-Three programme all this week as part of our Charity of the Week feature.

She recalled Derek receiving his diagnosis:

Parkinson's Disease Society Isle of Man will be hosting a drop-in session on 28 April at the Creg-ny-Baa, between 11:30am and 2:30pm.

Whether you’re a member, newly diagnosed, supporting a loved one, or simply want to learn more — you are very welcome to join them.

It’s a chance to chat, connect, and remind each other that no one faces Parkinson’s alone.

Call Sarah to confirm your attendance via 309409 or 452929.
