Boundary report re draws Keys elections map

Plans for a major shake-up of House of Keys constituencies go before Tywnald next week.

If agreed, the Boundary Review Committee's final report will bring an end to the current mixture of one, two and three-seat constituencies.

That system has been criticised as unfair and undemocratic.

Re-drawn boundaries create twelve new, two-seat constituencies, each with a population of around 7000.

The committee has amended draft proposals published in January.

Maughold would remain in the new East constituency instead of becoming part of the North.

And Howstrake instead of Birch Hill would leave Onchan.

Committee chairman Sally Bolton says it's all in the name of greater voter democracy:
